Youth Leadership Program Launched

August 26, 2018

After a year of planning with our partner, YouthHOPE (http://www.youthhope.com/), we held the first workshop on July 7, 8 and 9 in Santiago. An amazing group of 80 youth, representing 42 churches throughout the DR arrived Friday and worked through Sunday afternoon to kickoff this two-year program.

An additional 15 volunteers from our network worked with Faith Partners International and YouthHope throughout the workshop. Everyone was housed and fed on campus where the workshop was held.

These new leaders in-training are now back in their churches, working with their pastors to implement the tools that Aaron and Rebekah from YouthHOPE provided us. Pray for these new leaders and their pastors for patience and understanding, as they tackle old issues in new ways. We are monitoring their progress and will have our second workshop with them in February 2019.

The second year of training will involve training the best of our new leaders how to train new leaders. This program is designed to grow from the work of these new youth leaders; building a core network, seeking our new candidates, and providing training on their own. We train youth leaders, then some of those youth leaders learn how to train others to be youth leaders.

We are very excited about this Youth Leadership Training. It is the biggest program that we have undertaken and we are doing it on Faith. Faith that the youth will come and be engaged and that we will find the financial support to run the program.

Here are some photos from our workshop in July.
