Our Women’s Program in Vallejuelo is now starting its third-year with nearly 50 single moms and close to 300 children participating. These women have learned baking, beauty salon and sewing skills that they will use to support their families. Many have come to Christ and all have a new sense of self-worth and confidence.
We are currently renovating an abandoned nightclub into a bakery/café, beauty salon and boutique. This work in-progress will take time and we are now raising funds to purchase the equipment we need for the bakery/café. Located on the main street, this new Christian business enterprise is already raising awareness in the community. These women will ‘pay forward’ a percentage of their profits to help launch new programs across the DR.
This month we launched our second Hope and a Future Women’s Program location in San Juan de la Maguana. We will have more news on that location soon.
