Given our long-time work as ecologists and water specialists we would be remiss if we did not give attention to the ecological conditions within the DR. There are no resident ecologists here in this country, despite the need for adoption of water conservation and sustainable land-uses (including agriculture and ecotourism) that would broaden the economic base and improve the well-being of the poor.
We hope one day to use our professional network to bring much needed information and education to the country by first engaging with universities and later federal agencies in the DR.
